Reporter Emily Kopp with the Georgia Gazette caught up with the "Voices of the Civil Rights" bus tour. It is traveling the country collecting stories of ordinary people who lived through the civil rights movement. Individual program segments are posted at http://www.gpb.org/gpr/gazette/?episid=1858.

The Voices of Civil Rights Bus Tour has departed from Washington, D.C. and traveled to some of the cities along the route of the 1961 Freedom Rides to Jackson, Mississippi, and proceed to historic sites around the country to gather personal stories from ordinary people about the Civil Rights Movement and the continuing quest for equality in America today.

The History Channel is filming the Voices of Civil Rights Bus Tour. Their work will culminate with a one-hour documentary about this 70-day odyssey, scheduled to air in February 2005.
