Joe Nick at Winedale, April 23

Joe Nick will be pontificating about Texas Music and Doug Sahm. The lecture, Doug Sahm as a Metaphor For Texas Music, is part of the University of Texas Center of American History's 30th annual spring symposium, this year dedicated to the subject of Texas music. I'll be speaking around 11 am, following Billy C. Malone, the author of Country Music USA, the Bible of country music, who will be talking about the Origins of Modern Texas Music, and preceding fiddler Erik Hokkanen, guitarist Hugh Sparks, and Grammy-winning piano pounder Floyd Domino, who will demonstrate what this sound is all about. Come and visit.
